Art and Writing: (I want pictures. Thank you!)
Make a freshwater or salt water (ocean) paper bag animal. Click HERE for a website that has quite a few paper bag animals. I like the walrus, however sea otters are my favorite. Write EIGHT sentences or more using this prompt, If their animal could talk, what would it say...Here are some examples of questions they could use, does he like his habitat? what would he change about his habitat? does he want to be a different color? what does he like to eat? what does his habitat look like?, etc...

Afternoon To-Do List (work on IXL)
Reading
In honor of Tomia dePaola, an amazing children's book author who passed away yesterday, we are going to listen to one of his books and practice measurement as the spaghetti was very long in Strega Nona. I would like the children to hear his famous book, "Strega Nona" at www.storylineonline.net. Click on the cover to hear the story.
Math
Today they will be practicing measurement by taking pictures of things that are 2, 4, 7, 9, and 12 inches. The kids loved this activity when we did it in class. Don't worry if you don't have a ruler. You can use a nonstandard type of measurement instead such as a paperclip, a noodle, a teabag, an erase, etc..Maybe your child found an index card that is four paperclips long or a piece of paper that is twelve teabags long. Just keep measuring! Please send me a picture of their favorite measurement and what unit of measurement they chose.
