Morning To-Do List (work on IXL)
*I have added more skills to IXL for Language Arts and Math.
Math:
This morning the students will be working on fractions by clicking on the picture to take them to BrainPop. The username and password are MrsRopes2. They had just started understanding what 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, and 1/8 meant. I was using the words numerator and denominator. They were also learning how to draw a shape for a given fraction such as color in 1/4 of a rectangle.
* Just for fun, bake something or make the play-doh from yesterday to practice using fractions and show them the difference in volume between the measurements. Click HERE for some easy kid friendly recipes from Taste of Home. I want to see what you
made.
Here are the steps if the link isn't working:
Go to www.brainpop.com
Username and password: MrsRopes2
Type FRACTIONS in the search bar
Social Studies and Writing:
We left off with writing opinion pieces. The children were writing bills in hopes that they would go to the Executive Branch of government and not be vetoed. Today, we are going to pretend that they are part of the Legislative Branch of government and I am part of the Executive Branch of government. They need to write a bill in hopes that I won't veto it and it will become a new law. They can write about whatever they choose or something we already did in class. Some examples that we did in class are more recess, less homework, more math, more lunch time, less time in school, pets in class, more screen time, no uniforms, etc...Please send me their bills (without their name in the picture) so I can post them here. I will post here tomorrow which ones became and law and which ones were vetoed.
Afternoon To-Do List (work on IXL)
