It's Mystery Science Wednesday! Today they are going to learn, "Why is there sand at the beach?" I hope they enjoy this exploration. Just click on the picture to get started. If you'd like to, you can, however you do NOT need to print the papers. They can just write their answers on paper.
Here are the steps if the link is not working:
Go to www.mysteryscience.com
Click on A STARTER LIST OF K-5 SCIENCE LESSONS at the very top. Make sure you scroll all the way up.
Click on 2ND GRADE

Math
We've been working on multiplication. I would like them to practice their multiplication by playing Roll and Multiply for five or so minutes and then see if they can complete the worksheet above in 5 minutes or less. I have added a PDF file of the worksheet (click the worksheet) so you can print it. If it doesn't work, just have them write the problems down. They played this game every other day in the morning, except this time they will be rolling two dice, not just one. How to play Roll and Multiply, each child rolls two dice. They add the dice together and then multiply them by 3. For example, if your child rolls a 6 and 2, 6+2=8, 8X3=24. There is no winner or loser. It is just for practice.
If your child received 100% on their threes, please go on to fours. When practicing fours, only use one die to begin with.

Reading (Click on the pictures for their work)
Why do we celebrate April Fool's Day? The children are going to find out by reading the book, "April Fools'Day". As they are reading, I want them to play, "I Spy Nonfiction Text Features". Just a reminder that LETTER means PAGE NUMBER, or your child can explain the text features to you as you're sharing the book together. I am repeating this worksheet because they were still learning about it in class.
I have one other worksheet to help them with their dictionary skills by alphabetizing words from the story they just read.
